I am drawn to eccentric figures; these could be people or the ornaments that surround them. Ornamentation exists for me between abstraction and figuration and outside of these categories. In my work ornament represents a kind of elegant absurdity. Exploring the boundary between public and private space, I engage with structures in architecture as theatrically symbolic, unfolding narratives of desire, intimacy, and camouflage. I often depict chandeliers, fabulous heroines, icons, and dandies entangled within a coded choreography.
