About:
Tara White is a British-Iranian artist working across drawing, print, sculpture, writing and installation. They examine constructions of ‘the self' by conceptualising sensitivity as a form of intuitive wisdom and as a projection of inner impulses, such as joy, anguish or grief. They investigate personal histories and petro-subjectivity by observing visual and cultural mechanisms within wider structures of imperial legacy.
Tara lives and works in London, UK. They hold a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London (2019). They were the recipient of the Goldsmiths Exhibitions Hub Award 2023, in partnership with The Women’s Art Library, presented as their solo exhibition Beyond These Walls There’s Courage at Southwark Park Galleries in September 2023. In 2024, their work is archived in the West Asian and North African Women’s Art Library. Tara has also exhibited at The Bluecoat (Liverpool, UK), Light Beams Under a Bridge Film Festival (London, UK), Dundee Contemporary Arts (Scotland, UK), Tate Britain (London, UK), South London Gallery (London, UK), Printed Matter (New York, USA), W139 Gallery (Amsterdam, NL), APT Gallery (London, UK), Safehouse (London, UK) and HFBK (Hamburg, Germany). Tara has also collaborated on social arts projects with Mosaic Rooms (London, UK), Humber Street Gallery (Hull, UK), and Boscombe Arts Depot (Bournemouth, UK); and given talks at Camberwell College of Arts (London, UK), The Courtauld (London, UK) and Goldsmiths CCA (London, UK). They were previously a member of the inter-institutional collective A Particular Reality.
