About:

Jacob Freeman, b. 1994, obtained his BFA from The University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 2016. He is currently studying at The Slade School of Fine Art, London, graduating with an MFA in 2025. Notably, he has previously shown with Abbozzo Gallery, Toronto, CAN, Racecar Factory, Indianapolis, USA & RAINRAIN, New York, USA. 

At the core of Jacob's painting practice is the interest in the mediation between the source image and the painted image. The source imagery for the paintings is taken from an extensive personal collection of digital images. Through his painting practice, he examines the power and ubiquity of images in the contemporary landscape and how the painting may lend itself to asking questions about the anxieties of consumption, belonging and identity forming.
